Well, first shotgun I've ever owned personally. 1953 Remington 11-48 12-gauge. Barrel has been shortened a few inches so there's no bead or choke but it's still accurate enough to instantly kill a nuisance bird at 40 yards (totally legal in my locality, don't worry) with some Federal #7 target shells.To the best of my recollection, the only difference between the 11-48 and the Sportsman-48 was the magazine capacity (the Sportsman was limited to two rounds in the magazine, making it legal for ducks without plugging the magazine.) D, Remington made two models called the Sportsman. One was a three shot version of the Model 11-48 that was made in 12,16 and 20 from 1931 to 1949. It was made in a 26 inch barrel only. The other version was the Model 48 Mohawk (Sportsman). This was a less expensive version of the Model 11-48, kind of like the 870 Express today.
