As you already know, touch screen replacement is relatively simple and straightforward, using simple tools and patience. It's also a lot cheaper than being financially abused by GM to pay for a replacement ICS @ > $1500 over a much cheaper failed component. I paid $60 for a replacement touch screen.

Now I have to remove it and reinsert it to get recognized by CUE. I checked the USB stick out on my PC, even running diagnostics on it and it works perfectly.The touchscreen itself is the issue, not the display behind what you touch or the unit behind it. The screen can be purchased from amazon for $130, including pdf installation instructions. Be sure when searching for one that it has the amber-colored translucent areas at the bottom. CUE system - radio controls not working. I noticed with in the last several weeks that the three bottom middle radio control buttons to change the station are not working. I read online and did the hard reset but that didn’t fix it. The rest of the buttons on the radio cue work, it’s just the bottom middle three. Help!

It's most likely the root cause of the AC issue, or a faulty interconnect, -if you're lucky. Check all CUE-related fuses first.
