Marlin has a ramp front sight, the Glenfield uses a front sight dovetailed into the barrel. The Marlins have a little nicer rear sight. Most of the Marlin 336s have a barrel band type forearm, the Glenfields use the end cap type forearm. Marlin has a gold trigger.

The 1894 holds pistol cartridges while the 336 shoots rifle cartridges. 1894 is lighter, has a square bolt (which I believe may be more complicated to remove for cleaning, though I might be wrong on that). I replaced the stamped dear head birch stocks (which I still have) with some new Walnut checkered stocks I got off of ebay!
