I stopped at the bank's drive thru ATM today, put the vehicle in park, and completed my ATM transaction as the engine idled. When I shifted to Drive the indicator light flashed and the engine revved but the Durango didn't budge.

I had this issue on my Durango with 14 miles on it. Turned out under the shifter assembly and center console, there are dual ground eyelets. Mine were not tightend to spec. Tech put on a scanner, with in 1 hour had the issue solved and tightend the eyelets to the ground bolt. I was driving, I got to a light, and the truck automatically went to parking. I did not pay that much attention, put it back in drive and continued driving.

The family of transmissions behind the 5.2/5.9 engines is notorious for locking the parking pawl (the pawl is positioned such that any drivetrain pressure on it will lock it in place.) The "standard" fix was and still is to relieve pressure on the drivetrain so the pawl releases and it'll work fine from then on.

Something caused it to bend, or it’s starting to come loose. If it’s loose, the geometry won’t be right anymore, and it may keep your Ram stuck in Park.Probably an issue with the park position sensor, the park lock solenoid, or the park hold solenoid (or wiring).
