OF course it shuts the engine down, but the lights and wipers are killing the battery. As mentioned, I need it continuously running at a fire scene or MVA.
Dec 17, 2005 · Series 60 can be programmed several ways on the 'idle shutdown. First of all of course it can be turned off. Then there is the shutdown like you said programmable from 2 minutes to a total of 99. Next is the idle shutdown set and a 'disable feature' allowed. This is set via either the scan tool or a laptop. I suspect your engine management computer has detected something out of whack and continuing to run the engine may ruin it. I would check the oil and coolant levels. See if that diesel's catalytic is overdue to be serviced. The "five minutes idle to shut down" timer might be wrong. Turn on the cruise control and set it while idling.
