The Staccato P is absolutely worth every penny. Picked up my Staccato P DPO with aluminum frame and threaded stainless steel barrel. The first magazine through it at 10 yards made one large ragged hole. It is hands down the best shooting pistol I own. Even better with an optic. That doesn't mean the springfield won't be a reliable gun though. You're talking about a $900 price difference between the prodigy and a staccato p that's optic ready. I'm a fan of well done grips, the stock grip in my opinion was sub par especially since I have well over 12 guns with STI's Costa or DVC grips. They are done for STI by Extreme Shooters. The P has a heavier recoil spring so the slide isn't buttery like the XC, but still smooth. I'm going to go with the XC again just based on my past experience with it.
