Ram 2500 stuck in 4th gear.

Jul 31, 2016 · 68RFE intermittent 1st and 4th with no DTC Codes. I have a 2008 Ram 2500 6.7L EFI Live on 35's with 72K miles it. The problem I am experiencing is that once this tranny issue is triggered as I am driving, I only have 1st and 4th gears. This issue goes away if I turn the truck off and restart it. 4.7L. Figured out how to take the plug off. Press the tab in, on the top middle of the plug. Than Slide the red locking tab down. Next pull the gray latch down. I used a pry bar to gently pry the bottom of the plug at the same time pushing the gray latch down.Stuck in reverse. No trans temp. The "lightning bolts" warning lights come on and my truck goes into limp mode. Yes. The valve body takes the inputs from the solenoid and applies it. I usually put the truck in storage December 1st (after Michigan's firearm deer season ends) to help save the truck from the Michigan Winter (salt and chemicals on the roads). When I backed out of my driveway, I put it in drive and was stuck in 4th gear. It had a "4" next to the "D" on the dash and it wouldn't let me manually switch out of 4th. The cause: about 100K miles prior, 5th gear had come off. The repair performed involved a thrust washer. The thrust washer came off, went through the gear case and was caught on the magnet on the bottom of the tranny case. When it went through the case, it chiped some teeth and misalighed 5th and the shift fork.

OD is on in 4th, 5th, and 6th gears. It only carries about 60% of the input torque in 4th gear (it carries 100% in 5th and 6th), so if it neutrals out in 4th, that is unusual. That is, if your clutch is going south, usually it will first start slipping in 5th and 6th (where it carries more torque).

P0882 and truck stuck in 4th means you are not getting 12V power from the Trans Relay (in the Totally Integrated Power Module [TIPM]) to the trans. The PCM sends a signal (at startup) to tell the Trans Relay to close, which then feeds 12V power to the trans.
