Contraverse Hold isn’t too strong. It gives you improved overcharge, granting a shield while you’re charging and refunding grenade energy when you hit something with the nade. This is suboptimal, but it’s a decent option for those light on Exotics. Lastly, and my personal favorite – Nezarec’s Sin.Kind of one of those builds that until Bungie straight tanks it, it's just hard to not use once you're used to it. You're right, and the thing that's really bothersome is that people who are used to it often won't acknowledge the merits of other builds because of that comfort. Like, I prefer Nezarec's or Mantle of BH to Contraverse.
