I had the same issue. Tried everything and then found something online that said you can only cast using the 2nd generation or newer chromecast device for the ESPN app to work. I had the 1st gen (kinda looks like a key). Upgraded to 3rd gen and worked like a charm. Pissed I had to upgrade, but glad it works now.

Not exactly. There's an issue with the ESPN app that it doesn't always let you watch from different ip addresses. I had that issue too until I connected back to my home wifi. I don't know why they do that
