The primary thing I think was they reduced the amount of the carry melt treatment a little. The basic difference between Series II and pre-series II (like yours) is the Series II guns have a Swartz firing pin safety. I took my trusty Springfield Loaded, steel-frame 5″ barrel with me for a side-by side, shootin’ comparison. Only there was no comparison, once I solved one nasty little problem. The laser was off. And I mean waaaaaaay off. The Kimber comes factory-equipped with a pair of custom laser grips, courtesy of Crimson Trace.

I chose the CDP for the following reasons. 1) Lighter (easier to carry) How so, they are both aluminum framed but just the slide is stainless on the Stainless UC-II! 2) Melt job (less chance of clothes snag) Not a concern and the cost difference is way to much just for a melt job. Although nice, it is not needed.

Personally I find the Kimber a tad too much to carry and a bit finicky as many 1911's tend to be. On the other hand reliability of the P938 is questionable.
