Double check your electrical connections, particularly the one that connects to the driver side fuel rail at the front of the engine, the fuel press regulator. When I did my hg, I had the same crank and no start. I had accidentally plugged in the wrong connector.

If those are the original batteries, I would be suprised if they are up to the task. Hard warm starts, crank time in excess of 3-4 seconds, is a sign of injector problems.Remote and dash button cause the same start cycle. (dash button does not have to be held, just 'push and release') Both send a signal to the bcm/ecm, which manage the start cycle. If it doesn't start, the crank command will time-out. Got a qoute from Fleece for about $7500 to do their Diesel 101 setup and a CP3 conversion. Comes with the S&B intake, 5" def/dpf del exhaust, DP, res del, Pcv block off, egr del, cp3 pump and kit, and lift pump. They broke out the parts and it was a bit over $5000.
