If you are asking this question you are probably better off buying a 716i, a good optic and an upgraded trigger, then going out and shooting a bunch. So similar applies to 7.62 and .308, just reversed. Generally a rifle is marked for its intended caliber but then you can use the slightly smaller counterpart on it.
