Diesel engines in general don't have a throttle, that's why you don't ever spray MAF cleaner directly on the intake, it can over rev. Same can happen if your turbo compressor seal busts, oil will make its way into the engine and you can't turn the engine off.
I have a '05 2500HD with the Duramax Diesel /Allison trans. and bought it with the stock air box and with it had very slow throttle reponse. I added on a Bully Dog Air Intake and did very little if anything to quicken it. It is most noticeable from a dead stop and hitting the throttle. It seems like it takes forever to kick in.If the truck can do 20 mpg empty, it burns 1.5 gal just covering the 30 miles, plus the extra 1 gallon going to the 9th injector. You end up using 2.5 gal /30 miles or about 12 mpg. These 2024's seem to be using closer to 2 gal/30 miles, plus the extra for regen makes 3 gal/30miles or 10mpg during regen.3.0 Duramax common problems Starting problems.
