I have never noticed a big difference in the Gen1 vs. Gen2 grip. The difference when using skate board tape or having a "golf ball" textured grip doesn't make much difference in my shooting performance. However, I like the highest possible grip on my STI 2011 guns, and the STI beavertail grip safety helps to get the highest possible grip.

I never resell, so value there doesn't help, and grip in handling those without don't seem a problem at all.

A couple options: 1) Send Extreme Shooters your (Gen 2) grip and they will stipple it with the DVC texture and send it back to you. Reassemble your gun and you're good to go.
