I found doing a one-time donation to get into a paywalled shop to be much easier than trying to play whack-a-mole with the free ones. Alternatively, you could download games to your PC through the various sites and install them via Tinfoil/your installer of choice. Added teknik to the file browser. Rebooted, once i restarted, was able to load and get the new gamelist to show up. Didn't have to remove tinfoil/reinstall. The point of tinfoil is to work as a "shop" of sorts as it can connect to a server and download content straight onto your switch.
