From the implements, wand and bell needs Thaumaturge DC so those are out, Tome and Regalia wants the advanced benefits that you don't get. At level 10. I think the general consensus is that you can wear a gauntlet and wield a weapon in the same hand. The gauntlet's free-hand trait would cause it not to interfere with the main weapon for implement's empowerment. The thaumaturge has been out for some time, and I think the more common combinations of implement that I have seen are: Wand/tome for the "false mage" Mirror/weapon to be an "echo knight" Chalice/talisman as the "discount paladin" (Not counting the third implement since it won't appear until very late in the game)

Luckily level 2 thaumaturge feats are not too exciting. As for combat the goal is to be mid/backline with a hand crossbow meaning the level 1 feat to reload is a must. As to how it feels to play, so far not bad.
