When you start going over 40 dex in ds2, and weapons get 1 ar per lvl, then its useless in all cases going higher. Unless a specific weapon calls for it. The windup for the L1 swing by itself is slower than the normal straightsword moveset, but it combos from an r1. So this is by far one of the most fun combos in the game, Lion axe with the crypt blacksword (make it dark and res buff it) = THE best way to utilize the crypt sword. It is actually viable now.
